Matariki celebration

On Friday the 24th of July we had a Matariki celebration at our school. When - Week of Term 3 our school celebrated Matariki. Where - We celebrated Matariki at Glen Innes Primary School.

Who - Everyone in our school celebrated Matariki. How - We put the Matariki art stuff outside of our classroom by stapling the Matariki stuff on the wall.

How - We put the Matariki art stuff outside of our classroom by stapling the Matariki stuff on the wall. Which - The classroom that we did the Matariki art stuff in was Room 8, our normal classroom.

Why - We celebrated Matariki because we didn’t celebrate Matariki a couple of days ago. Hangi - We had a hangi on the day we celebrated Matariki. There was chicken, peas, carrot, kumara, potato, pumpkin and broccoli.

Playtime - Then after the hangi had finished we went for a play. Then the bell rang and we went to line up. Maori dance - We walked to the hall and we did our assembly but first there were maori children doing the Matariki celebration dance on the stage. Then the principal got some senior children to let us learn about Matariki and stuff like that.

Then it was home time and we lined up in the hall like all of the other children at our school. So we walked to our classroom and the teacher told us to pack up, get our bags and to lock all the doors. Then the teacher told us to pick up all of the big pieces of rubbish on the ground too. 

Lastly - The bell rang and the teacher was asking us questions and if we answered the questions then we would get to go home so when we finished asking the questions we walked out of the classroom and we went home.

I felt happy because I was watching the maori children doing the Matariki celebration maori dance and because we had an assembly too. 

Matariki

( A Scary Night )

One night it started getting windy and cold. There were also lots of windy swishing

sounds outside. The boy lived at a house next to the forest and every time he went

in his room at night he heard windy noises. Then when the boy went to his room to

go to bed he heard something and he thought that he saw something. Then the boy

got out of his bed to close the windows then when he was walking he heard a book

fall on the ground. Then he went over to the book shelf to put the book back on the

shelf then when he went to put the book on the shelf he walked to the window to

close the windows. Then he put his hands on the window handles and he tried to

close the windows but something was holding it so that it wouldn’t be able to close.

Then he saw something go into his room and then he turned on his torch to see

what it was and then he heard a ghost say (BOO) and then the boy ran to his

bed and hid underneath his blanket. It was getting morning and the mum came to

wake up the boy and she said quick get ready for school so he woke up and he got

ready for school and his mum made his lunch and breakfast then they went. Then it

was getting dark and he heard a ghost again and the ghost said (BOO) and this

time the boy didn’t run and go underneath his blanket he screamed and the mum

heard so the mum ran to her sons bedroom and she said are you ok so then the

boy said that there was a ghost and the ghost said (BOO) so the mum said that we

will get a camera so that we can make sure we can hear the ghost come to our

house. So there was another night coming and the mum got the camera to see if a

ghost comes to their house and this time the mum saw the window open on it’s

own and then the mum ran to her sons bedroom and saved her son then the

ghost never came again because the mother putted some traps around the house

and in the forest. Then after a long time it was the boys mother's birthday and the

boy got his mum some flowers and the boys mum loved the flowers that she got for

a gift.

Cold Morning

In the morning it was very cold. It was really cold because winter had already come by. First I got ready to go to school but I was late by the time I got to school because the students were already doing jump jam. It was 3 degrees and it was very cold outside and the sun was coming out too. My hands were cold too but I just walked to my classroom but I didn’t put my bag on the chair. What I did with my bag is I took my bag with me to the basketball court. I got warm fast though because I ran a little bit of times and I also ran to the basketball court to do some jump jam but I was really late because when I got to the basketball court I had to do my shoelaces so I did them. So when I finished doing my shoelaces jump jam was already over. I had lots of fun at school and I had lots of fun running to the basketball court too.
