Cook Island Language Week

Today when I got to school I went to go for a little play and I had a fun playtime.

First the bell went and everyone went to line up on the senior basketball court. It was Cook Island Language Week and when everyone went to line up the principal was talking to us about things.

Then the children were walking to their classrooms but our class didn’t walk to the classroom because we had to do fitness. We only went for two or one round of running because it was about to rain.

Next we went to our classrooms and we sat down on the ground. Then the teacher was telling all of us that it was Cook Island Language Week. So we started to learn about Cook Island greetings. We learnt a couple of Cook Island greetings and the teacher was asking us some so that she knows that we have learnt some for the poem.

Finally she said that we have to do the writing document about the Cook Islands Week so we went to line up so that we could get our devices. So when we got our devices the teacher told us to put our hands on our heads and look at her so we looked at our teacher and she said that we have to be finished when the big hand goes on one. So we started doing our writing document. The words we learnt were kia orana - hello, Pe ‘ea koe - how are you, Meitaki au - I am fine, akepe ‘ea koe - how about you, meitaki au - I am fine. I felt excited and happy because we were going to be writing about Cook Island Language Week.
